NATASHA: Can you, for those who don’t know you already, tell something about yourself?

LAURA: My name is Laura N. Andrews and I love to read and write.

Since completing my studies in law enforcement, I’ve been working in the health industry for over a decade. Writing has always been a passion of mine and I’ve now had several works published: four novels, and two novellas, and my latest novella release, Eeny Meeny. Although I’m generally an introvert, there are certain topics which are a sure-fire way to get me talking, anything related to: books, coffee, and Netflix. Aside from my first published novel (This Time) and my latest release (Eeny Meeny), my books are gay romance, or MM romance.

NATASHA: How did you become an author?

LAURA: I’ve always been an avid reader and a few years ago I’d begun writing my own book. I was reading a particularly great series and when I found out the author lives in my home city of Perth, I reached out to her. I expressed my love for her books and explained how I was an aspiring writer. Not really expecting a response, I asked whether she had any suggestions for how to make my dream come true. She recommended her editor, which led me to an indie publishing company, Hot Tree Publishing.

NATASHA: What is something unique/quirky about you?

LAURA: I hope this is considered unique rather than worrying…but I do a lot of self-talk! You know the phrase, “I was talking to (so-and-so) about this and decided to…”? Well, in my case I usually tell me best friend, “Well you know, I was talking to myself about it and decided to…” When I’m in the car or at home, I tend to talk things through with yours truly – especially when I’m brainstorming a book idea! I do sometimes wonder what my neighbours think… ha ha. NATASHA: Tell us something interesting about you!

LAURA: Before turning twelve I lived in three different countries and four cities/states.

NATASHA: Where were you born/grew up at?

LAURA: I was born in Montreal, Canada, I lived there until we moved to Philadelphia. We then moved back to Australia, where my parents met (high school sweethearts!), when I was three years old. We lived in Melbourne, Victoria, until I reached eleven and we moved to Perth.

NATASHA: What do you do to unwind and relax?

LAURA: Up until recently: have a hot shower before sitting down in front of the TV – Will and Grace most likely – with a nice Italian meal and a glass of red. To be honest, I still do that, but I do enjoy the benefits of a relaxing, stress-relief, yoga session.

NATASHA: Describe yourself in 5 words or less!

LAURA: Empathetic, stubborn, introverted, kind, and optimistic.

NATASHA: Which of your novels can you imagine made into a movie?

LAURA: For every book I always imagine them as a movie, however, The Bromley Brothers series stands out. These are gay romances based in Perth. Full disclosure: I’ve dipped my finger into the pie that is screenwriting and am writing the first book as a movie script!

NATASHA: Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in Eeny Meeny?

LAURA: Eeny Meeny features a female lead, Elizabeth Jacobs, who is a psychopathic vigilante. The cops have a serial killer on the loose – yet they’re going around killing the bad guys.

One cop, Detective Isaac Lucas, is on the case. When he starts a relationship with a new woman, he has no idea how closely his professional and personal lives are so entwined. NATASHA: If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?

LAURA: If we’re talking Eeny Meeny, I’d pick Nathalie Emmanuel and Brett Goldstein.

NATASHA: If you could spend time with a character from your book whom would it be? And what would you do during that day?

LAURA: Elizabeth. Although I’d feel a little like she’s watching my every move, I’d be keen to hang out with her. I imagine she’d enjoy The Boys, so we could watch that together. NATASHA: Have you written any other books that are not published?

LAURA: Yes, soooo many!

NATASHA: Is there any writer whose brain you would love to pick for advice? Who would that be and why?

LAURA: Nalini Singh. She’s my favourite writer and someone I’d be ecstatic to meet. I’d love to pick her brain on how she develops her characters and creates such unique fantasy worlds. Another would be JR Ward for the same reason.

NATASHA: Who are your top 10 favorite authors?

LAURA: Nalini Singh, JR Ward, Sloane Kennedy, Onley James, Riley Hart, Cara Dee, K.C. Wells, Parker Williams, TJ Klune, and Nora Phoenix.

NATASHA: How long have you been writing?

LAURA: Well, I was writing when I was ten years old! As an adult, I’ve been writing for around eight years, and this August will mark my sixth year as a published author.

NATASHA: Do you see writing as a career?

LAURA: I’d love to be in a position where writing is my fulltime job, however for now it’s a hobby.

NATASHA: What can we expect from you in the future?

LAURA: Right now, I’m working on a paranormal gay romance.

I’m also writing the third and final book in The Bromley Brothers series where we follow the love story of the eldest brother, Travis.
